How It Works

So that you can make the most of your OutRyder experience we want to describe how it works - event sign-ups, transport, day trips, overnights - everything.

 Joining OutRyders

Who Should Join OutRyders

Anyone who wants to have fun on the slopes during the winter season should join. Skiers and snowboarders of all abilities are encouraged to join.

Do I need to join to participate in OutRyder events?

Yes. Only members may participate in OutRyder trips and events.

How do I join?

Just visit our Membership page and register online.

What do I get for my membership dues?

OutRyders get great prices on lodging and lift tickets. As a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, we pass on all the savings from group discounts to you. And membership fees are used for member parties, raffle prizes and any other fun thing we can think of. Members receive an OutRyder tee shirt with a new design each season. As a member you will receive the OutRyder email Newsletter with the latest news and you will be able to communicate with other members using the online fORum.

What if I don't know how to ski or snowboard?

You don't have to know how to ski or snowboard to be part of OutRyders—we welcome newbies. We also schedule off mountain events and socials throughout the year.

After I Join

What's the best way to connect with other OutRyders?

  • Participate in the mountain trips and have a blast with other OutRyders doing what we all love - having a romp on the slopes. Lunch at the mountain and apres in a cozy lodge are great opportunities to connect while chillin' with new friends that you've been skiing and ryding with all day.
  • Come to social events (like the Holiday Party, Bowling Night, TTT @ Cathedral Station) and introduce yourself. It's a great way to circulate and connect with your fellow members when they're undisguised by helmets, goggles, and face masks.
  • Volunteer for mountain trips and social events. Team OutRyder is completely comprised of volunteers and we could always use more talent.
  • Be sure to upload your picture to your Member Profile so that your OutRyder friends can recognize you.

What kinds of events can I expect to participate in?

You'll be able to participate in day trips, weekend trips (2 - 4 days), week long trips out West, the Season Opening Party, many social events in and around Boston, and the Season Closing bash.

How do I sign up for OutRyder events?

You can view the full lineup of our mountain trips on the OutRyder Events pages. When an event is open for registration, members will see a Register button for the event. Just click and pay and you're on your way. And members also receive an OutRyder email Newsletter announcing when trip are opening up for registration. Some events sell out so early planning is your friend.

Day Trips

Sign-up

Members receive an email announcement when a day trip is opening for registration. When registration is open, just go to the OutRyder Events page and click the Register button. You'll be able to buy your discounted lift ticket and you'll be automatically included in emails announcing information about the trip. Meetup times and places and all other details about your day trip are always on the OutRyder Events page (but only viewable by members.)

Travel

OutRyders arrange their own transportation to our mountain destinations. If you're looking for a ride or want to provide a ride to the mountain, you can post a message in the event's detail page for all OutRyders to see - it's pretty effective.

Lodge Meetup

At 8:30 AM, be at the mountain lodge to get your lift ticket. Chat with friends as you suit up for your mountain adventure. But not too much chatting :) You'll only have about a half hour to get all of that gear on. We head for the lift at 9 AM.

Ski Lift Meetup

At the designated lift between 9 and 9:15, we'll split up into groups so you can be with people who enjoy the same level of skiing/ryding that you do. Now it's time to ski! We get on the lift line promptly at 9:15.

Lunch

Get back together with everybody for lunch at a cozy lodge. The time and place of the lunch meetup (and all other meetups) will be announced when registration is open.

Explore Some More

After that hearty meal it's time to attack the mountain again.

Apres

Apres fun starts at 3:30. The lifts are generally open until 4 so feel free to take your time settling into Apres cheer. The time and place of the Apres meetup will be announced when registration is open. You won't want to miss it - great raffle prizes are given away during Apres.

Overnights

Sign-up

You'll receive an email notification when overnight trips are opening up for registration. There are generally lots of options for lodging and lift tickets so that you can customize the trip the way you want it. When registration is open, just go to the OutRyder Events page and click the Register button. You'll be automatically included in emails announcing information about the trip.

Welcome Meetup

After checking into your hotel or condo, come on over to the Welcome Meetup to schmooze it up and talk about the great ski days ahead.

Mountain Meetups

Early risers can attend the 8:30 mountain meetup at the designated lift. The rest of us can stumble into the 10:30 meetup:)

Itinerary

The overnight trips have lots of different events like mountain top dance parties, drag races, even a pool party (indoors of course.) A detailed itinerary is provided for every overnight trip.
